The Project started in El Salvador in 2017. While we work with the central ministry of education for the initial permission, we are in schools in San Salvador and La Libertad. This is a country in need of God as the organized crime is very high and the third-grade kids are often the drug dealers in the schools. Our goal is to continue growing next year as these same schools continue others join the Project. These numbers show the amount of students reached in 2021.
In the Francisco Gamboa school the students are the children of the market workers and prostitutes. They used to come to school with very bad attitudes and behavior, violence, and vulgar vocabulary. Though they knew about values, they didn’t live them. When they started studying their Vital Values with Jesus books, they started changing. The 4 most violent and obscene kids were impacted the most and changed most radically. The students are now sharing the word of God with their parents at home and the principal says that he knows it will slowly get through to them as a drop of water wares down a rock.
A few years ago, Honduras changed from resisting the teaching of Jesus in the schools to welcoming it. What miraculously open doors there are in this country now. Close to half the primary and preschool student population is studying Vital Values with Jesus. Please continue to pray for Honduras and come help us distribute the books next year!
There are 20 Project workers present in all of the country. In 2021, God opened the doors to reach 90% of the students in public schools nationally. God has done so many miracles for this country so that these precious little children may learn of Him. There are almost 900,000 students in all of Nicaragua and the goal is to continue to increase the yearly donation until 100% of these jewels know of Jesus.
A teacher in Heredia and told us about one of her students who is autistic. The parents weren’t sure that they wanted to tackle the digital lessons as they felt it would double their work with their son. But later the mother called the teacher and very emotionally related how in that doing the lesson on the Value of Obedience and particularly in doing the craft together and learning the application, their son sat still for an unusually long time, something that really surprised the mother and father. The mother is very happy for the interest their son shows in the lessons, saying that some of them he has practically done alone. The teacher told us that the mother could hardly find words to express their thankfulness for Project Jesus, that she sends lots of good wishes and blessings. The teacher herself expressed her own gratitude and joy.
Based in San Jose, 2 staff members promote and distribute the material to all areas of the country. Our focus is to slowly pass more responsibility on to the ministry of education supervisors in each district for the distribution and follow-up, thus enabling the teams to distribute more. In 2021, 45% of the elementary students studied the life of Christ in their classes through the use of Vital Values with Jesus.
This year in Panamá looked very different for the Project as we were dealing with official permissions and review of the material, but God is good and we are in the final stages. We are trusting and praying that all the paper work will be completed in time for distribution next year. The changes made are very positive and will enable the teachers to implement the material in a more effective manner, allowing the messge of Jesus to reach the children. We believe that God will allow his word to reach all of the students of this country in the near future.
One second grade boy was very violent. His parents abandoned him with his grandma and his dad only returned every once in a while, to beat him up. When the class studied the value on LOVE, the students suddenly stopped what they were doing and all went and hugged the little boy, telling him that they loved him. He cried, impacted by God’s love for the first time. After that, he was changed. He became happy, peaceful, and participated in class. That’s what God’s love does.
Teacher Lidia told us of how her students have put into practice the values taught in the books. They especially understood the value of sharing. They are now sharing hugs and loving words with their family members. She has enjoyed working with Vital Values because of the varity of activities. Teacher Lidia and her students look forward to using the books again next year.
In 2020, for the first time ever, a group of North American’s delivered books to many beautiful schools, distributing over 60,000 books in 4 days. God is good, and we saw wonderful expanision this year. We are praying to be able to reach 200,000 students in 2021. This is a very large country and we feel the time is right as the need for peace and unity is very present.
This year, the Project was started in Bolivia, in the cities of Santa Cruz and Chocabamba. We are very excited about what God has planned for this beautiful country.
